This internship is for full-time students enrolled in an accredited university (summer 2013 only). To serve SHRM Online and SHRM print publication readers by researching and proposing story ideas and by participating in development of multimedia or graphic content for online and/or print publications. The intern will help the editorial department expand its coverage of HR news and information relevant to California HR professionals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Write news articles for SHRM Online and other publications. * Assist in the editing or posting of routine online content, under the direct supervision of an Editorial Department manager. * Assist in promoting content through social media, including Twitter, LinkedIn and SHRM Connect. * Research graphs, maps, charts and other materials. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Students enrolled full-time in an accredited university majoring in Journalism or related field. Prefer students who have successfully completed news writing and editing coursework. Graduate students most welcome to apply. REQUIRED SKILLS: Demonstrated ability to research, write and edit basic news stories as seen by presenting samples of previous work. Knowledge of Web tools a plus.
