Intern-Safety Computer Systems Support Work Location:Omaha, NE Closing Date:February 12, 2013 Basic Purpose of Job: Union Pacific is looking for interested students who would like to work as an intern in the Safety Department in Omaha, Nebraska starting as soon as possible. It is anticipated that this position will last for approximately 6 months. We are looking for someone with college credit equivalent to two years towards an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other closely aligned field. This position offers excellent exposure to working in a large corporate environment and assisting end-users by turning data into actionable information. Union Pacific will accommodate the intern''s work schedule to fit their school schedule (within reason). The successful applicant will be expected to work sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. This position will be expected to work between 15-20 hours a week. The purpose of this position is to participate in a team environment to assist with the version upgrade of our web-based Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) decision support software. The successful candidate will be provided with training in this software tool. Accountabilities: * Test queries written under the old version of the decision support software to ensure that they work in the new version. * Work with individual users over the phone and provide training on the look and feel of the new version. * Create new queries for the end users to support their business needs. Preferred Education, Training, Experience or Skills: * College credits equivalent to two years towards an undergraduate degree while currently enrolled in a college program working toward a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science, Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics or Biology or related Safety fields * 1 year(s) experience / knowledge in computer applications with knowledge in additional system skills SQL Server * Basic computer skills with Microsoft Access and Excel
