Job Summary:
Assists with development of a computerized (FEAM - Maximo) system to track maintenance of equipment in Loco and Car shops. Facilitates Tool Standardization Advisory Board (TSAB) and progresses all initiatives for customized tooling changes/updates for both Locomotive and Car standardization. Assists with analysis of customized tooling though testing. Manages the maintenance of CSX Mechanical facilities throughout the system while ensuring timely and safe completion of assigned projects within the budget. Provides Mechanical field technical assistance as required. Manages the various Capital Improvement Projects assigned and provides technical expertise for the maintenance. Leads cost reduction in all aspects of manpower, materials, tools, equipment and vehicles.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:
*
Identify proper lifting devices and methods for component usage and storage.
*
Design and develop specifications, recommendations for repairs, modifications, or replacement of the following systems: Turntables, Cranes (Jibs, overhead, etc.), Transfer tables, Drop tables, Man Lifts, Portec Jacks, Fall Protection, etc..
*
Provide Mechanical field technical assistance through troubleshooting as required (may includeon call support).
*
Develop project cost estimates and funding through the Authority For Expenditure (AFE) Capital process.
*
Work closely with Technology, Purchasing, Labor Relations, suppliers, contractors, vendors, and outside consultants to complete projects in a timely manner.
*
Assist with design, evaluation and preventative maintenance of:Buildings [interior & exterior lighting, doors/hardware, interior finishes, exterior finishes, window/frames, stairs/railings, electrical service, plumbing systems,heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems], Electrical [emergency generators, yard lighting, power distribution], Switch heaters, Roofing systems, Modular Office Buildings, Demolition of buildings.
*
Design/Develop specialized HVAC equipment (i.e. waste oil burning units to reduce energy cost associated with heating shops and buildings).
*
Evaluate and research new designs for equipment and facilities for Car and Locomotive Operations.
*
Interface with Environmental department concerning all compliance issues (fueling, asbestos, mold, PCB, etc.).
*
Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
*
High School diploma/GED or Associates degree from an accredited institution required
*
1 or more years of work experience required
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to meeting the above qualifications, any of the following are preferred:
*
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in Mechanical Engineering
*
3 or more years of supervisory experience in Locomotive Mechanical and Electrical Systems and Equipment Maintenance
Knowledge and Skills:
*
Technical proficiency to identify problems and effectively resolve them
*
Ability to lead change and influence large audiences to achieve buy-in for new tools and technology
*
Knowledge of Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulatory standards
*
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to a variety of both technical and non-technical audiences
*
Knowledge of Association of American Railroads (AAR) regulatory standards
*
Ability to manage multiple activities and adapt to changing priorities daily
*
Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences
*

Job Requirements:

75% travel required.

On the road as often as daily within assigned territory.
