           Position:  Boring Bar Machinist                                                                      LEVEL I

Reports to: 
           Manufacturing Supervisor      
 
Essential Functions: 


·       Interprets advanced engineering drawings and understands print requirements including datums, critical dimensions and tolerances. Performs setups and runs boring bars in best possible way to achieve specifications.
 
·       Demonstrates ability to effectively setup and operate multiple high-value machine tools producing parts of high quality. Must constantly monitor parts to ensure adherence to blueprint requirements and tolerances.
 
·       Able to shape, sharpen, set cutter, and adjust own tools. Set bore gauges and other measuring equipment.
 
·       Knowledgeable and able to inspect own work at each step of machining process which enables timely continuance and ensures a quality part at the conclusion of the machining operation.
 
·       Produces a large variety of complicated parts and may offer creative/innovative machining, tooling and fixturing improvement suggestions to supervision and Engineering personnel to reduce production costs and improve quality.
 
·       Assists management in developing quotations on potential future projects.
 
·       Every employee is expected to:
           -          Complete all required paperwork including labor reporting and documentation of quality control and material movement.
 
           -          Work safely and maintain the work area with high standards of housekeeping.
 
           -          Perform self-inspection and other required quality control functions at the employee's work station.
 
 
 
 
-                    Perform required Preventive Maintenance activities on machinery and/or
           equipment operated.
 
           -          Train and/or assist in the development of personnel.
 
           -          Do the work in lower levels when assigned.
 
           -          Perform other duties as assigned by Supervision.
 
Qualifications:
·       Advanced blueprint reading, mathematical and technical skills.
 
·       Ability to use standard inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, height gages, etc.).
 
·       Works independently with minimal supervisory direction.
 
·       Effectively communicates with and instructs fellow employees.
 
·       Lifting requirements:
           Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Lifting
           devices are available and recommended.
 
Education and Experience Requirements: 
·       High School diploma.  
 
·       Three (3) to five (5) years progressive machining experience or related technical school training.
