Director, Operational Excellence
Title: Director, Operational Excellence Location: United States Veolia Water North America is executing on a significant multi-year transformation striving for operational excellence. The role has been established to partner with the Business Development team and the Operating Team to manage this initiative with the support of the other functional departments (Technical Direction Group, Management Systems). This position reports to the EVP in charge of Municipal Operations and will work closely with business function leaders and senior executives across businesses to help define and manage the transformation agenda.
· The incumbent will be responsible for the operational excellence effort focused on:
* Continuously developing and managing critical organization-wide benchmarks. * On-site assessments to ensure VWNA operating processes are efficient and streamlined. * On-site initiatives to drive coordinated actions through work groups and team work to enable optimized organization and processes.
· The position will offer comprehensive assessment throughout North America of organizational capabilities, staffing levels, business processes and organizational design.
· The incumbent will assess and use existing operational diagnostic tools and programs designed for US municipal water utilities covering all aspects of plant operations and maintenance, customer services, underground assets. He/she will also be responsible for proposing any tool enhancement deemed necessary or useful.
· The incumbent will act as a catalyst for change to lead, facilitate and manage change related to business process re-engineering and operational excellence.
· This individual might also be involved in projects like Lean transformation and identifying and removing low value tasks.
· This activity will be first piloted and optimized with VWNA existing operations keeping in mind the goal to apply the methodology to external clients in North America. · 5 - 10 years of a comprehensive mix of consulting and operations experience. · Significant and varied experience in process industries to support a continuous improvement environment. · MS/MBA preferred with an undergrad or background in Industrial Engineer, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or business consulting. · Strong communication skills · Strong analytical skills required to benchmark activities/processes and re-engineer business processes · Strong consulting skills required in matrix environment. · Ability to influence business leaders at various levels to ensure buy-in. · Driving and achieving culture change · Extensive travel required (minimally 60%) · Ability to pass all pre-employment screenings (motor vehicle report, background check, drug test)
