Forklift Pallet Jack Apprentice MechanicJob Descriptions:
AmeriCold, the largest provider of temperature-controlled distribution services in the U.S., is currently seeking Forklift Pallet Jack Apprentice Mechanics for its Denver, Colorado subsidiary, Atlas Logisitics. The Forklift Pallet Jack Apprentice Mechanic works alongside a Journeyman Mechanic to learn how to perform various procedures related to the repair and maintenance of battery-powered industrial equipment (Crown forklifts, Crown pallet jacks) as well as the facility's state-of-the-art battery-handling system. Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Operating test equipment (ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes) to check proper connections and/or perform troubleshooting. 2. Assisting, maintaining, overhauling and repairing all material-handling equipment.
3. Inspecting equipment.
4. Performing periodic preventative maintenance on all material handling equipment.
5. Maintaining battery-charging equipment and conducting minor repairs.
6. Conducting the safe removal and replacement of lift batteries.
7. Operating Hydra-Handler Sled.
8. Performing routine battery maintenance.
9. Maintaining and repairing battery cable insulation and connectors.
10. Monitoring battery charger status and exercising corrective action as required.
11. Monitoring battery de-ionizer and taking corrective action as required.
12. Disposing of hazardous material in accordance with established OSHA procedures.
13. Assisting/maintaining integrity of rack system, making any and all repairs to uprights, crossbeams, shelf trays, glide-in-racks, pushback floor-mounts, and case flow lanes.
14. Performing minor maintenance tasks under direct supervision.
15. Performing routine maintenance and remodeling work.
16. Performing other duties as assigned or as situations dictate within the scope of the position.
17. Cleaning equipment and keeping work areas tidy for the safety of staff and the maintenance of facility.
Required Experience:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

4. Working knowledge of Basic Electricity & Electronics (BEE) and Troubleshooting.
5. Working knowledge of machine-shop practices.
6. Working knowledge in Blueprint/Schematic reading.
7. Considerable skills in operating power tools.
8. Working skills of welding fundamentals.
9. Working knowledge of applied mathematics.
10. Considerable skills in maintenance mechanics.
11. Ability to operate warehouse equipment (Hi-lift, RC, Pallet Jack, etc.).
12. Considerable knowledge of safety practices.
13. Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools.
14. Ability to understand written/oral instructions and solve problems.
15. Electrical knowledge helpful.
16. Flexible to work any schedule.
17. Ability to provide own hand tools.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Experience: One year of documented, on-the-job experience; although, proven mechanical abilities may be considered.
Working Conditions:
Warehouse environment; exposure to cold temperatures.
Physical Requirements:
Sufficient physical ability to perform all maintenance tasks including, but not limited to:
1. Occasionally lifting and carrying weight up to 80 lbs.
2. Occasionally climbing ladders or using lift equipment to a height in excess of 28 ft.
3. Manual dexterity in hands and legs to use tools, bend and stretch.
4. Frequent bending, squatting, lifting, standing, and sitting.
Special Qualifications:
