Title: Lead Operations Supervisor, Vaughan, Ontario Canada
Location: North America / Australia
1. Assists in the management of the daily operations and scheduling projects.
2. Monitors service levels to ensure equipment and personnel are deployed efficiently and effectively.
3. Assesses scheduling, routing problems and recommends solutions and long term improvements.
4. Plans and implements departmental policies and ensures maximum reliability and efficiency of run and route coverage.
5. Tracks operational data and the preparation of any applicable reports.
6. Prepares the biweekly operations payroll.
7. Supervises Operations Supervisors and Transit Operators.
8. Responsible for training, coaching and leading supervisory staff under their direction.
9. Assists management to ensure optimum staffing levels are maintained. Will be responsible to participate in the interview and hire process for Operations Supervisors and Transit Operators in accordance with established Company policy and client's contractual requirements.
10. Will be responsible to provide feedback to the Operations Manager on employee performance and technical training needs.
11. Oversees the performance management/attendance management process in conjunction with Human Resources.
* Business Management degree/diploma or experiential knowledge/experience may be substituted for an Business Certificate.
* A minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience in public transit bus operations in a unionized environment is required.
* Knowledge of a computerized CAD/AVL bus tracking system will be considered an asset.
* Working knowledge of Trapeze FX and Operations experience specific to batching, trip routing and operator performance will be considered an asset.
* Excellent knowledge of geographic locations, vehicle routing opportunities, and traffic conditions within the YRT/VIVA service area.
* The ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business procedures.
* The ability to present information and respond to questions from internal and external associates.
* Computer skills: utilizing MS Office applications in a Windows environment including word processing, email, internet, database and spreadsheet applications.
* Must have the ability to work with, read, analyze, and interpret basic computer information with various software applications.
* Excellent written and oral communications skills are required coupled with a strong customer service orientation.
* Strong organizational and administrative skills.
