Conducts logical analyses of management problems and management information requirements, and formulates mathematical models of problems for solution by computer. Prepares mathematical models of problem areas in one or several equations that relate constants and variables, restrictions, alternatives, conflicting objectives, and their numerical parameters. Gathers, relates, and identifies data with variables in models by applying personal judgment and mathematical tests. Reviews operations and testing of models to ensure adequacy, or determine needs for reformulation. Prepares written, nontechnical reports for management, indicating solution or range of possible alternatives in rank of desirability and probability of success. (WWDS 6190) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Technical Capability * Use of Models and Tools. Ability to apply existing models for engineering analysis. * Breadth and Depth of Technical Knowledge and Experience. Ability to perform complex statistical analysis. * Customer Relationship & Communication * Presentation skills. Ability to present engineering analysis to an engineering knowledgeable audience. * Customer Relationship management. Ability to maintain a customer relationship. Can inherit the relationship of an existing customer and maintain the current business level. * Written communication. Prepares proposals, statement-of-work, project updates and presentations. Documents project assumptions, approach and results including net savings/profit. * Project Management * Managing Priorities. Ability to work on 2-3 projects simultaneously. Leadership is required to prioritize work. * Value management. Defines scope to estimate work and cost with assistance if needed. * Project Leadership. Responsible for schedule, scope, and budget for own work but not others. * Stakeholder Management. Gives required updates to leadership and stakeholders. * Results & Influence * Work/Value generation. Receives work from leadership. Actively communicates availability to assist others. * Influencing peers. Performs work by following pre-defined processes and procedures. Documents and archives project work. Collaborative in project approach. * Results ownership. Deliver requested workin scope, schedule, and budget. * Travel 10-20%. Detailed Description x Job Requirements EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
* BS in Engineering with MS in Industrial Engineering/Operations Research or a related field with over 3-5 years of combined business and engineering experience (related field must include academic experience using linear programming, simulation, or other mathematical modeling techniques to solve optimization problems). * Demonstrated evidence of Technical Capability, Customer Communication and Relationship, Project Management, and Results and Influence described above under Duties and Responsibilities. * Strong PC/Windows background with working knowledge of databases (Access) and spreadsheets (Excel) and an understanding of the capabilities and uses of database applications. * Good understanding of Transportation and Logistics, data analysis and warehousing problems and applications.
