Job Description:
Norfolk Southern Corporation, a Fortune 300 company specializing in rail transportation, is currently seeking Operations Supervisor Trainees to begin a career in Communications & Signals (C&S). Now is your chance to join the Thoroughbred of Transportation!
Operations Supervisor Trainee
Successful candidates for the Operations Supervisor Training program will complete a four to six month training program designed to develop knowledge of managing railroad operations. The program entails a combination of field, online, and classroom training geared to developing the participants' working knowledge of safety and operating rules, train operations, FRA regulations, hazardous materials handling, corporate policies, and other applications. Trainees gain experience in installing all types of signal equipment used on the railroad, including wayside and crossing signal systems, defect detectors, automatic equipment identification (AEI) systems, and hump yard systems. You will also learn all aspects of our C&S systems and devices, including design, construction, maintenance, safety compliance and inspection. After completion, candidates will be assigned to a managerial position in one of the 22 states where Norfolk Southern operates.
Interested candidates should have previous supervisory experience and a demonstrated commitment to safety. Must be willing to work various work assignments in a 24/7 environment and enjoy being outdoors. A bachelor degree is preferred but not required.
