Trade Lane Development Manager - France to West Africa, Damco France, Location: Paris, Lille or Le Havre.
Area of responsibility The Trade Lane Development Manager will be the driver of Damco's build-up, development and achievement of growth targets in the assigned Trade Lane. Essential job tasks .Responsibility and accountability for the start-up and continuous development, growth and profitability of France to West Africa Trade Lane. . Create a strategy that embodies the business solution's development opportunities and threats, Damco's strengths and weaknesses, the market's attractiveness and competitive situation, with the main aim of achieving growth and profitability. . The WAF Trade Lane Development Manager will oversee all aspects of the company's West Africa business within this trade lane. . The WAF Trade Lane Development Manager will develop strategic senior and multi-level relationships. Engage stakeholders and secure support (internal and external) to ensure the overall organization and success of the trade lane for the company. . Promote WAF Trade Lane and actively seek support from sales teams in France and trade lane correspondents to launch and monitor success of specific sales campaigns · Regular travel to West Africa is expect for joint sales visits
Objectives of the position .New business targets/budget measured in CM1 . Establish Damco as a recognised logistics provider for the West Africa Trade Lane
Functional Characteristics . Very good knowledge about Damco port-folio products . Good knowledge of the markets for assigned trade lane . Previous experience leading a commercial department/working in a commercial role · Good understanding of ocean freight industry · Airfreight knowledge and ocean carriers relations constitute an advantage for the position
Learning opportunities . Gain thorough insight to and understanding of Freight Forwarding, specifically DAMCO global and local business and network . Gain knowledge of the ocean/air/landside/and vertical (reefer, Chemical, retail.) markets and customers as well as specific considerations, trends, technical details and seasons. . Organizational communication skills - to/with DAMCO offices/colleagues and other business partners, via a variety of communication channels. . Sales/leadership skills . Take learning as part of your job, to constantly improve and develop yourself through self-learning, on-the-job training, training programs as agreed, and applying learning in the job. . Networking at Global, Area and Local levels
