To ensure efficient and timely staging, loading and shipping of prepared mailings to guarantee proper quality and compliance with Company policy and USPS requirements Properly unload trucks of postal equipment Pull finished goods from production floor Load trucks with finished goods; following trailer sheets and or transportation manager’s directions Additionally, act as a work leader for shipping operations and fulfill the job duties of a Transportation technician I & II as required This position may also be responsible for selecting, orienting and monitoring the performance of independent contract carriers and maintaining good business relationships with them * Performs shipping scheduling and manages daily work assignments to prioritize loads and ensure accuracy for shipment to USPS * Utilizes the Oracle Transportation system to properly generate required shipping and postal documentation * Implement and maintain all components of the Postage Payment elective agreement (PPE) to comply with Postal regulations in the shipping of standard mail * Performs any other tasks as assigned by management to achieve overall objectives of the organization * Receive and store all postal equipment until needed by Production * Weigh and put in proper location all finished goods following company/department guidelines * Load postal trucks with finished goods * Safe and efficient use of company equipment needed to carry out job functions * Develop good rapport with postal personnel assigned to this facility * Requires manual handling materials of weights up to and including 50 lbs * Coordinate the daily routine work of shipping operations including procedure compliance, material-handling priorities * Provide orientation to the company for all new employees and train them in their duties including safety practices * Monitor the quality of reports prepared by all technicians including piece weights and weights verification calculations Investigate any problems or errors detected or suspected in these reports or other receiving documents * Respond to inquiries from other departments regarding receiving information on a priority basis * Verify pre-final and final 3602 postal documentation for accuracy Notify management of any discrepancies and or variances prior to final submission to the postal representative * Ensure all deliveries are made in accordance with the terms of our contracts Provide accurate information of route delivery including time and quality of delivery and any independent contract carrier issues * Research and report findings of delivery complaints including, but not limited to, resident, client and non-delivery complaints Required Experience
* Safety Certification for power industrial trucks * Excellent awareness of safety practices * Be able to lift 30 - 50 pounds on a routine basis * Good written and verbal communication skills * Knowledge of USPS shipping requirements, Valassis transportation, and production and receiving procedures preferred * Certification in material handling * Associate Degree preferred or equivalent * Ability to work extended hours, weekends and holidays * Advanced computer skills Job Location Belleville, MI, US.
