Don't Stop Applying Because You Had an Interview

Landing an interview for a coveted job provides a much needed morale boost for job hunters. Unfortunately, many applicants mistakenly stop applying for new jobs after a single interview. After a successful meeting with a recruiter, you may feel it is unnecessary to keep applying for other jobs. Nevertheless, you need to keep yourself open to other opportunities, in case the job in question does not ultimately pan out.

There are many components to a successful interview. You must present yourself well, answer questions effectively and work to demonstrate your value to a would-be employer. Even after the best of interviews, however, you may not receive a job offer. Ultimately, you do not know if a recruiter is interviewing other applicants or whether the company will decide to postpone its hiring process. If you keep applying to new positions after your interview, you will not find yourself blind sided by an interview that does not produce the desired result.

Fortunately, certain clues allow you to determine whether an interview went well. For example, when a recruiter provides a specific time frame for a response, you should feel encouraged. In spite of these signals, you do not want to quit looking after interviews. There is no harm in sending your resume out to other recruiters, even if you ultimately receive an offer from the first company. If you keep applying, you maximize your chance of finding a dream position.

While you search for new positions, do not neglect to follow up with those you have already applied for. Immediately following an interview, send a thank you to the person you met with, reiterating your desire to work for the organization. Not only is this proper business form, but it allows you to make a positive impression on your recruiter. Keep applying the same tactics following every interview you attend.

Ultimately, the hiring process takes longer than most applicants expect. If you continue looking after interviews, you can channel your nervous energy into a productive task. Additionally, the more opportunities you chase, the higher your chances become of securing a position with a company you respect. Keep applying for jobs that fit your profile, and do not become discouraged as you wait for a response from a particular company.

Many job candidates feel frustrated by the job hunting process, as it unfolds slowly and recruiting officers rarely rush to offer candidates a position. As you keep applying to available jobs, choose to view your search as a full-time job in itself. Devote yourself to looking for new opportunities each day, and do not give up when things get tough. By continually investing in your search, you are bound to find a great position.
