The Aircraft-on-Ground (AOG) Response Specialist makes significant decisions surrounding all AOG requirement processes, including out of service and heavy maintenance aircraft. The AOG Response Specialist uses professional judgment to plan and react to aircraft part and material issues.
Scope & Complexity
This individual contributor position supports Aircraft-on-Ground (AOG) maintenance, planning activities, and heavy maintenance for Alaska Air Group. This role provides material support for the line and heavy maintenance operation. Works with full autonomy and only updates Senior Management if there are significant issues that would impact the operation.
Provides system-wide parts support for Aircraft-on-Ground (AOG), deferred maintenance, and heavy maintenance requirements.
Sources and delivers quality materials that best support the operational schedule, with each decision considering location, availability, cost, and speed of execution with overall financial performance a factor. Approves payment of invoices for purchase orders and transportation services. Determines the best method of shipping
Complies with special handling requirements for components containing Dangerous Goods and for shipments to international destinations.
Develops and/or promotes technical solutions which support the validation of the material within their area of expertise.
Coordinates with Maintenance Control, Line Planning, and Engineering to support Fleet Campaign Directives, Airworthiness Directives, and Engineering Authorizations, and any other mandated programs.
Maintains current knowledge of regulations and restrictions for deferred maintenance items, as specified by the Minimum Equipment List (MEL), Configuration Deviation List (CDL), Planning time Controlled (PLT) and Borrowed Part (BP).
Communicates arrival time for materials to the Maintenance Operations Manager on duty and immediately report any change of status which will affect the aircraft ready time.
Oversees the recovery and arranges transportation for unused and/or removed ASA assets in line stations for AOG events.
Processes requisitions, verifies proper signature authorization, provides assistance, technical guidance and capacity development to ensure compliance with maintenance manual references.
Coordinates with other airlines to loan, borrow, and lease AOG aircraft parts.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience working within a materiel support department (e.g., stores, repairs, purchasing, material control, or maintenance), preferably in an airline or third-party maintenance vendor operation.
Effective communication skills (e.g., verbal, written, and listening).
Detailed oriented and highly organized, with ability to prioritize and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable interfacing with all levels within the Maintenance & Engineering organization.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
A Bachelor of Arts or Science degree.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in procurement and logistics.
Knowledge relating to the transportation of aircraft materials.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Illustrated Parts Catalogue (IPC) proficiency and other related aircraft manuals.
