    OBJECTIVES/

    PURPOSE OF JOB

    Manage the component and finished product handling, storage, packaging, shipping, receiving, finished product distribution, inbound and outbound freight, Surgical returns, and stored site records for the St. Louis operations.

    KEY ACTIVITIES/

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Prepare and manage annual budgets

    • Manage inbound and outbound freight arranging for pickups and deliveries to meet internal and external requirements

    • Assist component stockrooms to include material put away and issuance

    • Oversee inventory cycle counting activities

    • Manage annual physical inventory counting

    • Develop or advise in the development of new or improved packaging for components and finished products

    • Ensure training of materials employees to maintain compliance and operational flexibility

    • Develop and ensure compliance to materials and operating procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and financial requirements

    • Ensure adequate storage facilities are provide and negotiate and manage offsite storage facilities as required

    • Manage Surgical product returns processing

    • Maintain strict accountability of shipped / retrieved and stored site records

    • Manage the STL site 5S Office Supply and Red Tag disposition areas

    • Represent B+L and the Materials department at corporate councils for domestic transportation and distribution

    SCOPE OF POSITION

    • Responsibilities include Tree Court facility for direct reporting and Sovereign Court and O'Fallon for indirect / advisory reporting

    • Budget responsibility for all areas under leadership

    • Team can include 1 to 2 exempt and 15 to 20 non-exempt employees and can include union and non-union employees

    KEY RELATIONSHIPS

    Internal

    • Manufacturing managers, Finance, Procurement, Quality, Planning, Service, Engineering, Customer Service, Complaint Evaluation Center, B+L Global Distribution Centers, B+L logistics management, and B+L corporate packaging engineering

    External

    • Customers, freight handlers, sterilization facilities, storage facilities, and suppliers

    QUALIFICATIONS/

    TRAINING

    Required Education

    • B.A. /B.S degree or equivalent experience

    Required Skills / Qualifications

    • People / communications skills

    • Freight classification

    • First-In First-Out inventory management

    • Distribution / Logistics / Warehouse knowledge and skills

    • Knowledge of packaging and transportation testing standards

    Required Experience

    • 10+ years warehousing and distribution experience

    • Multi-facility and remote storage experience

    • Domestic distribution experience related to small parcel, air cargo, LTL, and TL freight carriers

    • International distribution experience

    Acquired Skills Preferred

    • Hazmat certification 49CFR / IATA

    • Industrial equipment operation qualification

    • SOP writing

    • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft, ERPLX, Webship, Documentum, Compliance Wire, Microsoft Office, Catsweb, and Kintana
