Job Description Summary
The 1st Shift Supervisor is responsible for the daily leadership and execution of hourly team members supporting all aspects of the warehouse including receiving, shipping, assembly kitting and spares shipments. In addition to front line leadership, this role coordinates with both internal and external customers to ensure customer needs are met. This role will be expected to participate and lead continuous improvement activities.
Roles and Responsibilities
This role is responsible for the direction and leadership of ~55 hourly team members on 1st shift in a Union environment.
Responsible for ensuring all Material Handler functions are assigned on a daily basis to ensure customer needs for Assembly and Spares are met.
Responsible for ensuring all Material Handler functions are assigned on a daily basis to meet Receiving and Put Away demands.
Responsible for timecard approval and ensuring adherence of team members to all GE policies and procedures.
Responsible for team safety, quality performance, On time deliver to customer, overtime management, and team productivity.
Works with Kitting Leaders and Spares Operations Team to coordinate and expedite the flow of materials through Erlanger according to production schedules.
Ensure operational alignment with production plan and KPIs.
Works continuous improvement projects to decrease kitting time, reduce Dock to Stock cycle time and improve quality of delivered kits and/or parts.
Develops manpower capacity plans for material handler functions to meet demand changes.
Daily communication with assembly and fulfillment teams on production needs.
Expediting critical orders through Erlanger.
Develop technical expertise on the use of Warehouse Management System, IMPACT, and Process Weaver.
Understand truck routes and logistics between assembly sites.
Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or institution (OR a High school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years experience in warehousing, logistics or manufacturing environment)
A minimum of 3 years in warehousing, logistics or manufacturing environment
