    Transportation Specialist - Columbus, OH

    The individual will be responsible for the Common Carrier and Fleet Transportation load planning and service metrics for Ohio Valley and assist in managing a territory that consists of no less than 10,000 annual shipments with a primary service territory of Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Michigan, Indiana.

    Shift & Schedule: This is a full time position on 2nd shift working 2:00pm to 10:30pm, Monday-Friday. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends and holidays as scheduled is required.

    This individual will represent:

    • Transport Operations within the Ohio Valley Operation and branch teams.

    • Internal customers include Manufacturing, RSPM, Sales, Distribution, Transportation and Distribution

    • External customers include inbound vendors, for hire transportation, 3PL, dedicated fleet, and independent distributors

    60% : Operational Responsibility for the For Hire Carriers and Inhouse (Splash) Fleet in the Ohio Valley

    • Responsible to organize and manage the loads for transportation via For Hire Carriers or Splash Fleet for Ohio Valley.

    • Identify and manage backhaul operations to meet/exceed budgetary revenue targets

    • Ensure performance services are consistent with consignee needs

    15%: Develop and Maintain Cost and Service Metrics for the Transport Group Operations in Ohio Valley

    • Understand and participate in the development of a balanced scorecard for the For Hire Carrier transportation and fleet balance of costs and service including on-time performance, primary carrier utilization, and % handled by brokers.

    • Participate and assist with implementation of cost savings projects.

    15%: Continuous Improvement in both Cost and Service for the For Hire Carriers and Inhouse (Splash) Fleet in Ohio Valley

    • Participate in the development of the baseline for the transportation costs and assist with implementation to improve upon financial performance

    • Assist with the development of accurately tracking the cost to operate the fleet, including the cost of each origin/destination move compared to the cost of For Hire Carriers.

    • Provide input to solutions to optimize the network and align capacity against the most cost-effective lanes.

    10%: Manage interactions and relationships with customers and stakeholders including Manufacturing Operations, RSPM, Sales, Distribution, and Suppliers

    • Working to support planning as needed if changes need to be made to the schedule.

    • Report and suggest solutions / problem - solving with the team.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for SAP (TLB) Order Management Backup

    • To assign and manage the Transportation 3PL (Ryder) loads and Splash fleet loads.

    • To work as a team with regional planners and to ensure inventory /delivery requirements are met

    • Ensure compliance according to DOT and KDP regulations for Splash Fleet

    • Ensure that the customer interface is managed in the most effective manner (Load acceptance, billing, close out orders)

    • Work with Splash Fleet Drivers as needed to ensure daily loads are being covered

    • Assist supervisor in providing analytics, special reports, projects, and training

    Requirements

    • Experience with data and metrics analysis (Strong MS Office required - Excel, Word)

    • 3 yrs transportation experience preferred

    • 2 yrs experience in SAP preferred

    • Bachelors from Accredited University preferred
